JAMMU: Young and upcoming Aesh Goswami stunned four-time champion and one of the outstanding shuttler in Vipul Saini beating latter in straight sets in the men’s singles final of the 33rd Jammu District Badminton Championship that came to an end with the holding of valedictory function at Police Badminton Hall, here on Sunday.
Aesh trounced Vipul, who serves with RBI, 21-19, 21-14. However, the pair of Vipul and Raghav Dogra clinched the men’s doubles title outplaying the duo of Vasu Bhagat and Sunil Bakshi 2-0 (21-16, 21-18).
In the valedictory function, Chairman of J&K Badminton Association, Dr O.D Sharma was Chief Guest, who gave away the title trophies and presented medals. Gulzar Singh Slathia (ex- IGP), Ramesh Kotwal ( SSP HQ Jammu), Liaqat Ali (SSP), Sultan Mirza, Som Raj Gupta, Basanti Bhat, Kirti Sharma, Anil Gurkha, Satpal Sharma and Balbir Singh Jamwal (General Secretary of Jammu city and District Badminton Association) were also present.
