State Times News UDHAMPUR: As a part of World Heritage week, being observed from Nov 19 to Nov 25 2019 across the nation, Archaeological Survey of India Srinagar Circle Jammu organised a mega event here at Sheesh Mahal Tehsil Ramnagar. District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla, inaugurated the celebration. Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the main objective of organizing this programme is to raise awareness among the common masses as well as young generation about heritage of J&K. He appreciated the efforts of Archaeological Survey of India for organizing such programmes in the district. He called upon the general public especially young generation to be a part of this initiative to preserve rich heritage of the area. He highlighted the importance of world heritage week as a platform to make the citizens aware about their rich past besides encouraging and motivating them towards preservation it for the posterity. Earlier, the DDC inspected the stalls installed by ASI and the photo exhibition of ancient and historic monuments. The event was attended by Superintendent Archaeological Survey of India, Dr. Vinod Singh Rawat, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ramnagar, Farrukh Qazi, SO, Ashok Kundal besides Tehsil level officers of different departments and a large number of students.
