State Times News BISHNAH: Police on Tuesday arrested a woman for operating fake Facebook account to malign image of the woman complainant. According to case, Bishnah Police on June 26, 2019 received a complaint from a woman that she had recently been engaged and was about to get married in a few months time. “However, soon after her engagement, her fiancée started getting messages from a Facebook Account levelling baseless allegations to spoil her reputation. Consequent thereupon, a Case FIR No. 96/2019 under Section 67-A IT Act 506 RPC was registered at Police Station Bishnah and during investigation, the matter was taken up with FACEBOOK INC. USA through SSP (Operations) Jammu. On the basis of report obtained from the concerned Authorities at Facebook, it was surfaced that the accused is a resident of Ward No. 1 Bishnah. After ascertaining her identity, Bishnah Police led by Inspector Deepak Pathania, SHO arrested the accused and also recovered the mobile phone used to open the fake Facebook Account. During the course of investigation, it was established that the accused was a first door neighbour and classmate of the complainant. The complainant was a bright student who did well in her studies while the accused was not good at studies and so repeatedly failed in different exams which made her develop jealousness towards the complainant due to which she opened a fake Facebook Account and started sending objectionable and vulgar messages to the fiancée of the complainant in an attempt to spoil her reputation and break her engagement. The accused has been kept at Police Station Women Cell, Jammu and shall soon be produced before the court.
