JAMMU: A most tragic, inhuman and barbaric lynching has taken place in Srinagar-the most glamourised terror city of India. Having taken place during the night of Shab-e-Qader makes the crime more deplorable. The scary yells and noises of the lynching mob in the Jamia Masjid remind of the horrible pre-civilised era which the people might have only read in centuries old horror books. And, the gory incident raises several pointed questions about security cover to separatists and some soft-separatists in the mainstream politics.
The Valley has become haven for unscrupulous separatists, inhuman terrorists, sadist supporters, venomous over-ground activists and so-called pampered mainstream politicians who are worse than pre-civilised era brutes. The only difference is that they can be seen in modern day robes, speaking fluently the languages they know but at the core of hearts they are just radicalised beasts.
That the body of the lynched Deputy Superintendent Police could not be retrieved for three hours of dark night reflects the mindset of thousands of people in the premises and periphery who demonstrated most inhuman behaviour.
That the incident occurred when shameless Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was delivering religious sermon inside the mosque speaks volumes about growing barbarism in the Valley. Should the Mirwaiz continue to be protected by the Indian security forces and police at the expense of poor Indian tax payers? In the first instance, who he or the administration fears to be threat to this parasite who is enjoying worldly pleasures and roaming around the world without revealing known sources of his income? He is hand in glove with terrorists and India bashers. He keeps spilling venom against India and Indian symbols, day in and day out and still plays victimhood about Kashmiris being repressed and subjugated to inhuman treatment.
Time has come when the Indian state should take a call on the utility of security cover to protected persons in the sensitive State. These include hard-core hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah and all those subscribing to Jihad. These also include politicians like Dr Farooq Abdullah who described the stone-pelters, who are actually the murderers and lynching morons, as new generation of heroes fighting for their ‘nation’. By nation he means Kashmir-the place that is reverberating with voices of secession. Dr Farooq Abdullah is the same politician who sought support of Jamat-e-Islami, the ideologue of Hizbul Mujahideen, to get elected to the Lok Sabha in Srinagar by-elections in April this year. These also include his younger brother and lose National Conference canon Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, who misses no occasion to malign Indian security forces and implicate them for perpetrating blasts and grenade attacks in the Valley. He is the politician who got a huge snub from a retired general on national television for having sought help of the Indian Army in early nineties to be saved from Jehadis.
The Nowhatta mosque brutality is also an eye opener for the leaders of National Conference, PDP and Congress who created hue and cry over Major Gogoi using a human shield to rescue trapped poll officials and security personnel in a Budgam village during the Lok Sabha by-elections. Had the Major not used his innovative discretion, perhaps many lynching would have taken place that fateful day or several dozen stone pelters could have become the target of Indian guns. While New Delhi will have to take a call on growing demand for stripping of security to the separatists, especially the Mirwaiz, those availing it in the Valley too must ponder whether they deserve it or not. For continuing with security they will have to take a conscious decision of being loyal to the nation because threat in Kashmir is only to those who owe their allegiance to the nation and Indian Constitution. The mainstream politicians cannot have better of both the worlds by being seen at both sides of the fence. Either they owe their allegiance to the nation or they should join separatists and face the consequences. Indian nation will have to decide lest it will be too late. The traitors cannot mock at the country under the security cover of this tolerant nation. They cannot belittle and demean the security forces, the police and all those standing for India in Kashmir either. They are actually gangsters, like Ali Baba and his 40 thieves, who have fleeced the nation and the Valley most. Enough is enough.
