Amid discovery of a mass grave of 28 Hindu corpses in Rohingya Muslim dominated Rakhine state of Myanmar, the concerns in India have deepened manifold. The evidence suggests more such graves of Hindu victims, fallen victim to Muslim terrorists. In such a backdrop the outcry about deportation of Rohingyas is natural to grow notwithstanding chest beating of pseudo seculars, who till the other day kept describing India as unsafe for Muslims and ‘most intolerant’ country. These pseudo liberals are now invoking humanitarian values of India in a bid to stall deportation of Rohingya Muslims.
There is more than that meets the eyes in projecting Rohingyas as a ‘humanitarian problem’ by pseudo secularists, activists, Muslims cutting across their party affiliations. Their stance over Rohingyas is intriguing, especially as they keep propagating India as unsafe for Muslims at national and even international forums. The celebrities like former Vice President of India Hamid Ansari and matinee idol Aamir Khan are on record having vehemently given vent to their concerns and apprehensions about intolerant India.
The influx of over 40,000 Rohingyas in India raises many questions; the main being why did they travel over 2,100 kilometers to reach destination like Jammu, among other places in the country. Why didn’t the ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ tempt them to put stay in Bangladesh or travel to Thailand, which homes largest number of Muslims in many states? Muslims are second largest group in Thailand. Bangladesh is predominantly a Muslim country that had deleted secularism from its Constitution till the Supreme Court brought it back in 2010. Why didn’t Rohingyas opt for China, which takes pride in its friendly credentials with Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a self proclaimed Messiah of Muslims around the world?
If the Rohingya Muslims travelled nearly 2,100 kilometers to reach Jammu, how would have it mattered to traverse another few kilometers to go to Pakistan via Wagah in Punjab? The Rohingyas would have certainly been welcomed with open arms and hearts by their co-religionists in the neighbourhood. Pakistan could have even prevailed upon its best friend China to mellow down its borders for Rohingyas. After all, China has been shielding Islamabad in every world forum despite being, what Indian envoy told the
United Nations, as Terroristan. Also, if Pakistan could dole out 2,500 square miles illegally occupied area of Shamshaal of Hunza (Jammu and Kashmir) to China for constructing 851-kilometer long Karakorum Highway, couldn’t Beijing spare 4,000 hectares for Rohingya Muslims?
Pan out map of Myanmar, the boundaries of China, Bangladesh and Thailand are literally a stone throw. The Rohingya Muslim refugees could have sneaked into China via Dehon, Linsang, Xishuanghanna, Laos in Cambodia, Chang Mai or Hongkong in Thailand apart from most of the border stretch of Bangladesh. Why did they walk tedious roads to India?
India will have to find out the connection, particularly most radical voices being raised in West Bengal with Muslim clerics threatening to take on New Delhi and change the history of India. What they are up to? Rohingyas travel to Jammu can’t be without reason, as the sensitive State is witnessing radicalisation and Pakistan supported terrorism for 27 years.
The Rohingya Muslims did not came from moon all of sudden. They made a systematic influx in this city with the patronage of some Kashmir based NGOs and dubious persons to make Jammu their second, or perhaps the permanent, home.
According to a national news agency, Molvi Yunus, a Rohingya Muslim is reported to have stated: “I crossed into Bangladesh from Burma (Myanmar) when persecution of Muslims became unbearable. From Calcutta I shifted with my family to Delhi where I begged for food to keep myself and my family alive. It was in Delhi that I met a Kashmiri who told me J&K was a State in India where Muslims lived in majority”.
Who was this Kashmiri? Why did he motivate them to come over to Jammu and Kashmir-precisely Jammu and not the Valley? In a city, where apprehensions about demographic change are gaining ground with settlement of a particular community in clusters in the periphery, the presence of Rohingyas has obviously become a major concern.
With Rohingyas coming into focus, Kashmiri separatists observed a solidarity day for them; a dreaded terrorist commander threatened of backlash to left over Hindus in Kashmir if the illegal immigrants in Jammu were touched and more disturbingly the so-called mainstream parties like National Conference, PDP, Congress and others also changed their stances. In fact, these parties ought to have sought their deportation on immediate basis after security concerns were projected in Supreme Court of India. They should have been in the forefront for seeking Jammu Rohingyas deportation to Islamic Republic of Pakistan vis PoK through Karwan-e-Aman buses. But they chose otherwise. Quite intriguing!
