JAMMU: India has lost the moral authority to blame Pakistan for funding Kashmir terror? The shocking details about New Delhi itself financing top separatists, who are actually over-ground faces of various terror modules, are chilling. If reports are to be believed, the separatists are not only getting lodging facilities in posh hotels of the country and even abroad with paid air tickets, medical reimbursement, security and escort vehicles but various other concessions too. They are not to be blamed because if they are salable for Pakistan, they can be available to anyone across the world for money. But how can India reward them for having remained in the forefront and instrumental in complete cleansing of the Valley from miniscule minority, forcing shut-downs, working for Islamisation of Kashmir, creating obstacles in Amarnath Yatra and more importantly demonizing the armed forces, who are working in extreme difficult situations in very hostile environs.
Kashmir is at the edge. It is slipping away from India and ironically New Delhi is facilitating all this. Apart from terrorism, the Valley is currently facing new version of terror in the form of Intifaada or stone pelting besides mass uprising with violent mobs challenging writ of the nation, coercing police personnel to desert their barracks, motivating officials to work against the state, belittling institutions, destroying infrastructure, uprooting fruit-bearing trees in the orchards of adversaries and setting ablaze their properties. It is completely free for all in the Valley which is following the self-destructive diktats in belief of ‘now or never’. The dangerous part of the ongoing unrest is civil disobedience emanating from rural landscape instead of traditional downtown Srinagar and some volatile towns. This is a new phenomenon, having far-reaching ramifications.
The misfortune of Indian nation is tacit support of a particular political class to double-agents of Kashmir. Despite being insulted and humiliated in full media gaze outside Hyderpora residence of separatist hawk Syed Ali Geelani, the CPI General Secretary Sitaram Yachury vouched for talks with him and his ilk, soon after the crucial meeting of All-Party Delegation in the national capital. The so-called delegation failed in working out a strategy to deal with the fast deterioration of Kashmir situation. Except for taking solace in unanimity arrived within the delegation in not compromising with sovereignty of the country, the BJP-led NDA has nothing to offer to worried nation. It is ironic for Indian political class to discuss whether they are on same page vis-a- vis unity and integrity of India.
How ridiculous is it for the Union Government to create hype over starving separatists of funds being pumped through various Hawala channels? Cases stand registered against them, including Geelani years ago but there has been no forward movement in expediting judicial process even by the BJP-led dispensation. How can they do it when they themselves are involved in financing them liberally through various agencies? Rumours are rife that the agencies involved in funding Kashmiri separatists have developed a vested interest in continuing with the arrangement despite change of guard at the Centre just to swallow a percentage out of it. If reports are to be believed, unscrupulous elements in the sanctioning and disbursing authorities in New Delhi have all along foiled growing thinking among government quarters to abandon and dispense with this arrangement, just to have their share of 15 to 25 per cent of the funds released.
Now a new class of beneficiaries has got enrolled as recipients of concessions and currency in the Valley. They constitute writers, intellectuals, social workers and activists. Instead of serving national interest, they are unfortunately romanticizing terror, especially the latest phase of soft-terrorism through write ups and posts on social media. This is a most powerful medium that has changed the entire spectrum in Kashmir. This should worry the BJP that came to power on Kashmir plank. Not only should the funding to ‘stake-holders’ in the Valley be stopped forthwith but the names too need to be made public, which can change the game in Kashmir.
