Sports Reporter JAMMU: State volleyball boys’ team in under-17 age group, qualified among seven best adjudged teams of the country, on Thursday left for participation in the second edition of Khelo India National Youth Games (KIYG) 2019. A contingent of 15 players and officials was seen off by the office-bearers of Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK) for their participation in this week-long mega event commencing at Pune in Maharashtra from January 14. “Volleyball is the only team event wherein J&K has qualified owing to excellent performance and ranking of the State boys in 40th Sub-Junior National Volleyball Championship held at Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan,” Chief Executive Officer of the VAJK, Kuldeep Magotra said. The State team is accompanied by General Secretary of the Association, V.K Magotra as Manager while Mohd Tariq and Naresh Sharma as Coaches. J&K has been placed in Pool-A and shall play their matches against Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Meanwhile, Patron in Chief, Raj Daluja and President, Siddharth Daluja as also ex-Vice President, H.S Gill of VAJK conveyed their good wishes to the team members for achieving the desired results. The Team: Shabir Ahmed of Baramulla, Shahid Majeed, Umer Majeed (all district Baramulla), Himanshu Sharma, Vipan Kumar, Sahil Sharma (all Jammu), Imtiaz Ahmed, Touseeb Abass, Basharat Hussain (all Poonch), Rahul Verma, Varun Badyal (both Kathua) and Danish Gul (Srinagar).
