JAMMU: A three-day volleyball referee clinic-cum-refresher course, organised by Volleyball Association of J and K for the first time in J and K State, concluded on Monday at the premises of JK Public School, Kunjwani, near here.
In all, over 50 individuals (male and female) from volleyball background representing different districts of Jammu Division, mostly Physical Education Teachers (PETs) of Department of Youth Services and Sports and B.PEd, M.PEd students of University of Jammu took part in the course.
All these trainees were given updates in both theory and practice classes to improve their skills, reflexes and competitive morale as per latest rules and regulations of Volleyball Federation of India (VFI).
International volleyball referee from Himachal Pradesh, Rameshwar Singh Chauhan worked hard in imparting training by exploiting all latest tools of teachings aids including Audio-Visual aids as an instructor of the course.
In the concluding function, SP South Jammu, Sandeep Choudhary was Chief Guest who underlined the importance of such courses for upholding the standard of officiating various volleyball matches in the State as well as outside the State. He also presented certificates of participation. Joint Secretary of J and K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma was Guest of Honour.

Earlier, President of the Association, Sidharth Daluja welcomed the Chief Guest. Kuldip Magotra Chief Executive Officer of the Association presented bouquet to Guest of Honour.
Welcoming the dignitaries, General Secretary, Vijay Magotra apprised the aims and objectives of the course which was aimed at to boost the standard of officials of the State by officiating the matches during various volleyball championships.
“The association for the first time has taken initiative to conduct such course and would always be in the forefront in organising such a course,” he said.
Chief Guest also honoured Rameshwar Singh Chauhan with Shawl.
Among other dignitaries present were Ramesh Sharma Treasurer VAJK, Mohd. Tariq Executive Member of the Association and Azar Aziz Volleyball Coach.
The function concluded with presentation of certificates to the participants of the course by the Chief Guest.
Meanwhile, the Volleyball Association of J and K expressed their gratitude to the management of JK Public School, J and K State Sports Council and Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) for extending cooperation for the course.
