STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A combined celebration of Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day and Janmashtami was held in Vishwa Bharati Senior Secondary School Akalpur Morh, Jammu on Thursday. It was a gala show comprising various cultural activities on Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day and Janmashtami. The school auditorium was decorated with flowers and colourful strips where all the members of management committee, teachers and students were present. Prof. Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest and Prof. A.N. Sadhu, Chairman Academic Committee was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The programme commenced with the lighting of lamps which was followed by welcome song Jhoom Jhoom Har Kali. Principal of Vishwa Bharati Higher Secondary School, Annapurna Koul delivered welcome address and afterward a series of cultural items began and enthralled everyone. The group dance made everyone sway with melodious meter and mirth. Some students delivered speeches on the freedom struggle and Independence Day. Prof. A.N. Sadhu asserted on the importance of Independence Day celebration. He said that we as educators must keep the modern generation on the track of those who dedicated their lives for the cause of the nation. He also advised young students to follow the teachings of Bhagwat Gita to lead a sound material as well as spiritual life. Chief Guest laid emphasis on the education of students and advised them to become productive citizens of the country. He asserted that the future of a country depends on the students who will become future leaders and lead the nation towards the heights of the sky. He also greeted the school management, Principal, teachers and students on the combo celebration of Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day and Janmashtami and eulogised the young students for presenting spectacular cultural activities. He also spoke on the necessity of empowerment in each and everyone’s life as empowerment boosts the confidence that leads to the progress and development of each individual that ultimately takes the country towards the advancement in every field. The programme was anchored by students namely Krishna Gupta, Ananta, Mahi, Manvi, Dheeraj and Harsh. The vote of thanks was presented by Achint Kour.
