STATE TIMES NEWSRAJOURI: NSS Wing Govt. P.G. College Rajouri celebrated National Girls Child Day in collaboration with District administration Rajouri on the directions of principal Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Raina, under the supervision of NSS Programme Officer Dr.Naseeem Ahmad Malik. A walkathon and awareness program for which a rally of students was organised in the College campus which was flagged off from principal office and was concluded at M.P Hall inside the College campus. The Principal Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Raina presided over the programme, Later Anum Mirza (Women welfare officer) District Rajouri gave a motivation lecture and stressed on the need of Women education, Empowerment and said there should be change in the mind set of girls in the society. In the walkathon girls raised the slogans on the theme of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao( Desh Ki Ek Hi Awaaz, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao) and displayed different banners for the said purpose. Principal Govt. P.G. College Rajouri stressed to the students to spread the message of this national initiative in each and every corner of the district. Dr. Shafia Saleem, Dr. Atiya Shaheen and other faculty members were also present on this occasion. NSS Programme Officer Dr. Naseem Ahmad Malik gave vote of thanks. KATHUA: District Legal Services Authority celebrated National Girl Child Day under the chairmanship of Pr. District & Sessions Judge Pawan Dev Kotwal at CDPO Office Kathua. The programme was organized by Secretary DLSA Aarti Mohan. The main purpose of this programme was to spread awareness among people about all the inequalities that girls face in the society. On the occasion Retainer Lawyers of DLSA Neeraj Sharma and Pankaj Kumar highlighted the various central and state sponsored schemes to encourage families to have girls child and their upbringing. They also spoke about female foeticide and Infanticide. Similarly, Tehsil Legal Services Committee Billawar, Hiranagar, Mahanpur, Basohli and Bani also organized programme on “National Girl Child Day”. UDHAMPUR: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Udhampur Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Govt. Of India celebrated National Girl Child Day on the theme of Beti Bachao , Beti Padao ( BBPP) Scheme by organising Walkathon at Jakheni .Girls of Govt. Middle School Jakheni participated in this walkathon and they walk by chanting slogans of Beti Bachao Beti Padao. This walkathon was organised by National Youth Volunteers , Pinky Kumari and Varun Mehra of Block Udhampur with collaboration of Child Helpline India . In this programme team member of Child Line India , Miss Ashu Pathania ( Team Member ) motivate girls to continue studies and be brave. Vishal Kumar Badgotra ( NYV) also organised a walkathon on the theme of Beti Bachao Beti Padao at Magiote Udhampur. Lavish Khajuria and Karuna Chalotra ( NYV from Panchari Block), also organized a walkathon on the theme of Beti Bachao Beti Padao at Panchari . Many girls of the area participated in this walkathon. Parshotam Lal and Raj Kumar ( NYV from Kulwanta Block ) also organized a walkathon on the theme of Beti Bachao Beti Padao at Kulwanta. Abhishek Gupta (NYV from Ramnagar Block ) also organized a walkathon on the theme of Beti Bachao Beti Padao at Ramnagar Many girls of the area participated in this walkathon and some others block also organized this walkathon. Meanwhile, NSS units of Govt. College for Women Udhampur under the guidance of Prof. Subhash Chander conducted a symposium on the topic Beti Bachao Beti Padhao whereby. Prof. Sanjeev Upadhyay, Prof. Sumita Rao and Dr. P.P Singh were amongst the jury members. Almost all the contestants were of the opinion that saving and educating girl child is the paramount importance for the society as far as sex ratio and women empowerment is concerned. Aayushi Sharma bagged 1st prize and Manvi Sharma stood 2nd and Dharni Verma stood 3rd and Pratiksha Thakur stood 4th in the symposium. The programme was compared by Manvi Sharma. The day was called off by reciting national anthem. Earlier the morning session began with the programme whereby Sub-Judge, Sandeep Kour, Secretary DLSA Udhampur shared her opinion regarding the legal update on the said theme of the day. Advocate Sanjeet Kumar, Advocate Svatantra Dev Kotwal, Advocate Tania Mahajan also shared their views regarding the topic. The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Sanjay Kumar, NSS programme officer, GCW Udhampur. SUNDERBANI: NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College, Sunderbani organised a programme on the topic ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’. Prof. Davinder Kumar, Incharge Principal of the college, was the chief guest of the event. The programme started with a welcome note by Incharge Principle. Prof. Amit Kumar, NSS Programme Officer also enlightened everyone on the benefits of educating a girl child. Thannamandi: Govt. Degree College Thannamandi organized a symposium on the topic Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child) in connection with the celebration of National girl child day under Chairmanship of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Javaid Ahmed Qazi,. The programme was organized by the Women Development Cell/ NSS Unit of the college and was started with the welcome address by Prof. Fatima Qazi (HOD Political Science). Seven students of different semesters participated in the symposium. Dr. Shokit Ali (HOD Urdu), Mohammad Shoket (HOD Education) and Naveen Sharma (HOD EVS) acted as judges for the programme. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Areej Fatima student of semester 4th. Among the speakers the first prize winner was Maheen Fatima student of 2nd semester and second and third prizes were bagged by Attia Fatima student of 4th semester and Tamana Qureshi student of 6th semester respectively. Speaking on the occasion Prof. (Dr.) Javaid Ahmed Qazi, Principal of the College advised the students to develop the human values among themselves and fight against the prevailing evils related to women in the society. While talking on the occasion Dr. Khalid Rayaz (HOD Geography) stressed upon the girls to prepare themselves to compete in each and every sphere of life in this challenging modern era. Others who were present on the occasion includes Dr. Shamim Azad, (HOD Botany), Dr. Muqaddus Kariem (HOD Chemistry), Naveen Sharma (HOD EVS), Waqr Ahmed Librarian, Dr. Wahid Ahmed Qazi (HOD Islamic Study) and several others. Pura Celebrated National Girl Child Day on the theme “BetiBachaoBetiPadhao” (Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child) under the guidance of Principal of the college, Dr. Sunita Sudan and supervision of NSS Programme Officer, Prof. BinduKumari. In this regard a poster making competition was organized in the college in which 25 volunteers participated and made various informative posters. Prof. NargisNelofar and Prof. SukhwinderKour also accompanied the walkathon.
