SRINAGAR: President Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Wednesday demanded release of all political prisoners lodged in and outside the State jails.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Vakil said that as a goodwill gesture the government should consider release of all political detainees on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
“It will be another Confidence Building Measure (CBM) to make the road clear for meaningful and result oriented dialogue,” Vakil said. Vakil said the release of political prisoners will be another much needed CBM to break the impasse and bring all the stakeholders on the talking table.
He lambasted at National Conference (NC) Patron Farooq Abdullah for his remarks of trying to stall the dialogue process between New Delhi and Hurriyat. Vakil said Abdullah’s politics has thrived on disruptions and turmoil in J&K.
