JAMMU: V.S.K Kaumudi on Wednesday took over as new Additional DG CRPF J&K Zone vice S.N Shrivastava here at Group Centre CRPF Bantalab, Jammu.
Varun Sindhu Kul Kaumudi, born on November 3, 1962, joined the Indian Police Service on August 25, 1986. He served as SP in the State and then as SP in the Central Bureau of investigation, and also as Additional Director General (ADG) in Railways and in the reputed National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The officer was also posted as Additional DG in the Bureau of Police Research & Development, which is the think tank for the Indian Police.
While serving with the Central Bureau of Investigation on deputation, the senior officer cracked the famous fodder scam case.
While serving as Inspector General in the Economic Offences Wing of Crime Investigation Department in AP, he investigated the Satyam Computers scandal. He also served as CP, Vishakapatnam.
The officer won the prestigious Prime Minister’s Baton and the Union Home Ministry Revolver for being adjudged the best all round IPS probationer of his batch.
While taking over his new assignment, Kaumudi said that he is looking forward for productive stint here.
Before that the incumbent, Shrivastava was accorded a warm farewell by the officers and staff of CRPF at Group Centre Bantalab Jammu. Shrivastava highly appreciated the role being played by CRPF in the State. He stated that the law and order situation in J and K is very peculiar and challenging and expressed his happiness that CRPF officers and men are tackling with it effectively.
He was also high on praise to the level of synergy and coordination developed by the Force with local police and other security agencies.
