VIJAYPUR: An army and a CRPF soldier were killed when they were hit by an over-speeding ambulance near Vijaypur on Jammu–Pathankot National Highway.
Both the soldiers were on their way from Jammu to Vijaypur on Motorcycle bearing registration No PB08B-1417 when they were hit by the ambulance bearing registration No PB02AJ-9628 from behind while overtaking at Raya Morh on 23rd October, 2014. The army Jawan identified as Amandeep Singh (27) son of Rashpal Singh died on the spot while CRPF Jawan Sanjeev Kumar (29) son of Darshan Lal resident of Randhawa Colony Vijaypur got seriously injured.
The injured was immediately shifted to Vijaypur Hospital but due to his critical condition he was evacuated to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. In spite of the best efforts by the doctors, the injured succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning.
Bodies of both the Jawans were handed over to their family members after completing legal formalities. The Vijaypur Police have seized both the vehicles and registered a case for investigation.
