DODA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Doda, under the guidance of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-J organised training programme on trout culture in raceways on Friday at village Bhalra in collaboration with Department of Fisheries, Govt. of J&K. Total of twenty four farmers participated in this programme.
The programme was inaugurated with introduction of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu in the development of new agricultural technologies for the socio-economic upliftment of the farmer’s community of Jammu region in general, and in the Doda District in particular. Fishery Scientist Dr. Ghanshyam N Jha, welcomed the participants and briefed about the objectives of the training programme.
Dr. AS Charak, Scientist, KVK-Doda detailed about the importance of training programme in rural empowerment, in general and role of KVK-Doda in bringing youths towards economic & new unexplored areas of agriculture and allied subjects, so that new opportunities for unemployed youths can be opened, and invited the participants to come forward to adopt new and relatively economic venture like trout farming.
Naresh Kotwal, Dept. of Fisheries briefed about several schemes of the fisheries department for supporting trout farming and also assured to support the farmers who will come forward in this sector. The farmers namely Jagdish Raj, Pawan Kumar, Raj Kumar and Sushil Kumar came forward and assured to start fish farming. The training programme ended with vote of thanks By Dr. AS Charak.
