STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Rich tributes were paid to Maj Ajay Singh Jasrotia, 13 JAK RIF martyr of Kargil War, who sacrificed his life on June 15 to save many of his comrades. While presiding over the function, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, President J&K Ex-Services League, said, ‘Ajay’s father Arjan Jasrotia was his young officer in Khem Karan battle, while he was the Second-in-Command of Ajay’s grandfather Col Khajoor Singh in Nagaland Operations’. Such are the relations between offices of Maharaja Gulab Singh’s State forces, which has produced great Generals like Gen Zorawar Singh, Mehta Baste Ram, Baj Singh and finally Brigadier Rajinder Singh, who saved the State, he added. Highlighting various glorious acts of martyrs, Gen Jamwal urged the youth to emulate great heroes. Speaking on the occasion Major J.S Baloria, Lt Col Charanjeet Singh, Naresh Sharma and Sardar Gurpuran Singh also highlighted sacrifices of martyrs and urged residents of the colony to participate in such functions in huge numbers. Padam Singh Choudhary, Convener and his team organised the function, which was attended by a number of prominent citizens, retired army personnel and local residents. Veena Jasrotia and Dr Rohit Jasrotia, mother and brother of the martyr, also participated in the function.
