STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: To acknowledge and honour the selfless devotion and sacrifice by the veterans, Armed Forces Veterans Day was celebrated on Monday at Tiger Division, here. “Army veterans have always become part of the larger armed forces family who are keepers of our value and culture,” PRO Defence, Lt Col Devender Anand said. They, he added, are an important link between the present and the past. The day is also dedicated to the indomitable spirit of the personnel who served the armed forces with pride and honour, Lt Col Devender Anand said adding that Field Marshal KM Carriappa retirement from service on January 14, 1953. As a mark of respect and recognition the day is celebrated as Veterans’ Day. The celebration at Tiger Division was attended by Lt Gen Magotra, Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma and Maj Gen Jamwal and many war veterans from Indian Army. While interacting with the veterans, the GOC acknowledged and praised their contributions who have served the nation in their prime years and are still serving under various capacities for serving and retired soldiers.
