JAMMU: In just concluded First Women International Taekwondo Championship 2017 at Kathmandu, Nepal, three players from Jammu and Kashmir State representing India have won medals.
India won a total of three silver and two bronze medals in the Championship.
Eight players from India participated in the said championship.
The Indian team was led by Coach Atul Pangotra (presently deputed in J and K State Sports Council as Taekwondo Coach) and Coach Harish Tokas from Delhi. From Jammu and Kashmir Mukta Gupta (Physical Education Teacher of Youth Services and Sports) won bronze medal in Individual Poomsae Event, Afreen Hyder from Srinagar won bronze medal in under-57 kg and Bazaalla Mushtaq participated in team event.
Other players who won medals for India were Shraddha Dixit from UP, who won silver medal in under-49 kg and also best player award of Rs 51,000, Kritika Thakur under-46 kg and Shivani Thakur under-53 kg won bronze medals.
Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) President Chetan Anand met Indian team after arrival and congratulated medal winners and coaches for their achievements in the championship.
Secretary General TFI, Prabhat Sharma also congratulated the team.
J and K Taekwondo Association Chairman Anil Gupta, President P.C Sharma, General Secretary D.N Pangotra, Vice President Nissar Hussain and Organising Secretary Anuj Sharma welcomed State players in Jammu and appreciated their performance.
