STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Former MLC and Congress leader, Vikramaditya Singh on Thursday emphasised that terror incidents have risen sharply in Jammu and Kashmir since the BJP took over at the Centre in 2014. He highlighted that killings of political leaders and workers by terrorists had also increased manifold during five-year rule of BJP Government. In a statement issued here on Thursday, Vikramaditya said that BJP failed to provide stability to people of J&K on all fronts including political, economic and security. Vikramaditya said that the State witnessed deadly terror attacks including those at Uri, Nagrota and Pulwama. He said that the administration failed to answer how the biggest security lapse took place, wherein over 80 Kg RDX was brought into the State by terrorists and used in a suicide attack targeting 40 CRPF Jawans in Pulwama. Congress leader further added that BJP was responsible for implementation of failed unilateral ceasefire policy with terrorists in Kashmir valley during which a number of civilians and security personnel were martyred. He reminded people of BJP Government’s failure to provide adequate and proper bunkers to border residents, as promised by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in 2014. Vikramaditya said that since 2014, several credible reports including Government figures had shown that number of terror incidents saw a sharp rise of 176 per cent while the number of security personnel and civilians martyred in such attacks has grown by 83 per cent. He further added that on an average, eleven terrorists infiltrated every month between 2014 and 2018. He further mentioned that in last 58 months, Pakistan committed more than 5,000 ceasefire violations at the Line of Control and International Border which is a whopping 1,000 per cent increase compared to last 58 months of UPA Government. The Congress leader further alleged that more than 448 Jawans and 280 civilians were martyred in Jammu & Kashmir alone, due to Pakistan-sponsored terror attacks. Expressing serious concern over increasing attacks on security forces not only in Jammu & Kashmir but across the country in past five years, Vikramaditya questioned the Government’s policy on terrorism and Pakistan, and said that Modi Government miserably failed on policy of ‘Zero Tolerance towards terrorism’ and national security front.
