Terror funding have been an open secret with countries which openly condemned the act but supported financially or through clandestinely. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been calling for concerted global effort to choke terror funding through “targeted economic sanctions” do look quite a practicable one but a difficult one to bring in the desired results. From Hawala to oil money and hedge funding through gold and commodities and of course narco-smuggling terror outfits have been very creative in creating alternative routes of financing. Modi stressed for disrupting fund flow to constrain the capabilities of terrorists and reduces their ability to execute attacks while addressing the Global Focal Point Conference on Asset Recovery and 21st conference of CBI and state anti- corruption and vigilance bureaux attended by 34 countries. He had also raised the issue during the G-20 summit in Turkey which took place immediately after the Paris terror attack which claimed over 134 lives few years back. Globalisation of organised crime poses a major threat to economies throughout the world which hamper investment and economic growth. It can also infiltrate or control a large section of economy thus disrupting the mainstream progress. The growing trends of financial crimes have often revealed “inter-connectedness” of crimes of different types, stemming from different parts of the world often with complex modus operandi and to have an hold on them there is a need for concerted effort from all the countries especially the economic majors who have the resources and infrastructure to check the flow and growth of terror funding. The growth of ISIS, which had targeted the oil rich middle-east countries to launch their campaign and today the outfit is posing danger to the all human kind in every corner of the world. Former Pakistan President Pravez Musharaff assertion of using terrorists in Kashmir is the best example how regime to regime are friendly to terror outfits for their survival.
