Sports Reporter JAMMU: To give boost to Mountaineering and Sport Climbing in J&K, Tawi Trekkers J&K, the biggest adventure organisation in the State, shall register about 100 Mountaineers and 200 Sport Climbers before organising major events in Ladakh and Jammu. The registration shall commence at 10:00 AM on April 17 (Sunday) at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, here and continue for a limited period of time. Annual registration for mountaineers and Sport Climbers is Rs 1,200, a handout issued by the Tawi Trekkers here informed. As a part of its efforts to make Tawi Trekkers J&K the leading adventure organisation in the country, the club shall also launch membership drive on the same day from the same venue. The annual membership fee for students and non earning persons has been kept as low as Rs 1,200. It may be mentioned that this year Tawi Trekkers has a very ambitious plan of organising three mountaineering expeditions including an expedition to Mt. Elbrus in Russia, the highest peak of Europe; two mass trekking programmes for about 700 students in Dharamshala area of Himachal Pradesh besides three high altitude trekking expeditions for individual members and innumerable short treks to heritage sites and beauty spots of Jammu region for about 3000 students.
