SPORTS REPORTER SAMBA: Swankha Club and Raya Club won opening men and women ties respectively in the 31st District Samba Volleyball Championship that started under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir at Government Higher Secondary School, Khara Madana in Block Purmandal, here on Saturday. In total, eight teams in men’s section and four in women section are taking part in this competition. Earlier, the competition was declared open by Chairman of Block Development Committee (BDC), Arshad Begam, who was Chief Guest. She interacted with the participating teams and assured of all help in promotion of sports activities. Among those present were Principal of GHS Khara Madana, Inderjeet, Sarpanch, Anil Sharma, Deepak Singh, Parshotam Singh, Keval Krishan, Rajinder Sharma, Ramesh Kumar, Shazia and Balbinder Singh Jamwal (Secretary District Samba Volleyball Association). The Results: MEN: Swankha beat Purmandal 2-1; Ramgarh beat Madana Lower 2-0; Gho Brahmana beat Khara Madana 2-1; Baba Sidh Ghoria Madana Upper beat Madana Upper 2-0. WOMEN: Raya Club beat Swankha 2-1; Suchani Club beat Vijaypur 2-0.
