POONCH: Swami Vishwatmanand Sarasvati ji, Mahant of Shri Dashnami Akhara on Saturday expressed concern over Government’s prejudice in allotting land worth crores of rupees to Gujjar community by tampering the Revenue records.
Addressing the media persons, he said that the land of Dashnami Akhara has been diverted to construct hostel for Gujjars. Resenting the move, Swami Vishwatamand said that such discriminatory attitude of the government is not acceptable and causing apprehension among the minorities. He alleged that there are several other glaring examples where Revenue record is manipulated to give undue benefit to Gujjar community by allotting prime chunks of land and depriving other communities from their due share. He demanded that government should give a fair deal to its subjects rather than adopting lop-sided attitude as came to fore in the instant case. “The government has taken the aforesaid Dashnami Akhara land without giving its substitute”, he alleged adding that such a move is very painful and may act as catalysis for minorities’ migration from Poonch. He demanded that the problem should be solved within a week’s time so that minorities may not feel threatened.
