R S PURA: 2 J&K Girls Bn NCC of GDC R S Pura, as part of Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign organised an activity in which the statue of Davinder Sharma, DySP, J&K Police located at Main Chowk near Bus Stand, R S Pura was cleaned. The Martyr attained martyrdom on October 27, 2001 in Billawar, Kathua while defending our motherland. The activity was performed under the guidance of the Principal of the College, Prof. Kalpana Kesar and supervision of Prof. Bindu Kumari, NCC Convener, Prof. Shaveta Chowdhary, NCC Incharge and other members of the committee. After cleaning the statue, floral tributes were also offered as a mark of respect. A total of 32 cadets participated in the activity.

SAMBA: Under ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’, a mega cleanliness drive of PM Narendra Modi ,NCC Cadets of 1st J&K Armd Sqn NCC GGHSS Jakh carried out cleanliness drive in Brigadier Rajinder Singh Park at village Bagoona, the birth place of Brig. The cadets were led by ANO S/OFFR Gulshan Sharma and Waryam Singh -Master under the supervision of Principal Sudesh. Cadets cleaned the park, its grass beds and the statue of Savouir of Kashmir Brig. Rajinder Singh who laid down his life for the nation while fighting gallantly with Pakistani intruders on Oct 27, 1947at Garhi, Uri ,Rampur and Mandir. President Brig. Rajinder Singh Youth Brigade Arun Jamwal who is the grandson of Brig. appreciated the move and he himself told the story of Brig.

NSS unit of GDC, Samba, organised a poster making competition on the theme ‘Clean India Green India’ as an activity of the ongoing ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ programme. In all 25 NSS volunteers participated in the poster making competition. Principal Dr. G.S. Rakwal lauded the efforts of NSS volunteers for making students and society aware about cleanliness.
The first prize was bagged by Mona Bhagat, second by Tamanna and third by Bhavna Rajput. The event was judged by Dr. Sandhya Rani, Dr. Seema Bhau and Dr. Narsing Dass. The competition was organised by Prof. Shivali Rattan NSS Programme Officer in association with Dr. Ram Singh, Prof. Sukhvinder Kaur, Prof Asha and Depika.

UDHAMPUR: GDC Majalta organised an event in the college on two different themes ‘Dowry System’ and ‘Female Foeticide’ just to aware the students and others about these two social evils which are responsible for poor women empowerment. The programme was started with the encouraging remarks given by the Prof. Kusam Gupta Principal of the College followed by the faculty members of the college especially Prof. C L Shivgotra and Prof.Ambica Gupta.
About 20 students of the college participated in the event and their performance was adjudged by the team of judges Dr.Asha Singh , Prof. Upma , Dr. Ramesh Kumar and Dr. Mool Raj. Students were given certificates on the basis of their positions as well as to the participants. Other staff members Prof Vaishali, Prof Imran and Prof Jai Kundal also participated in the event.
Vote of thanks along with concluding remarks was given by the Prof. C L Shivgotra and programme ended with recitation of National Anthem.
