KATHUA: Keeping in view the sufferings of Hiranagar border hamlet people due to continuous unprovoked mortar shelling by Pakistan, District Congress Committee President and former MLC Subash Gupta conducted visit of affected villages.
During visit to villages situated at zero line including Bobiya, Chandra Chak, Gujjar Chak, Manyari, etc, Subash met villagers and took stock of the situation.
The representatives of the villages castigated present regime and apprised Congress leader regarding their hardships relating to cross border firing or availability of basic facilities.
They apprised Subash Gupta that lackadaisical attitude of the government towards the redressal of the problems had proved that the State Coalition as well as the Union Government had turned Nelsons’ eye towards public.
Giving reference of the hardships of the border hamlets, Subash demanded of special recruitment drive in army/paramilitary forces/state police. Gupta further added that as the people living across the border continuously suffer from heavy losses due to Pakistan shelling hence the government should provide coverage of Insurance scheme for life, property, crops, livestock, etc. Condemning the Pakistan for the present plight of the people, he said that unprovoked firing and shelling from Pakistan side is responsible for the present circumstance, and it is because of this that people have to vacate their house and force to take shelter in the migrants camps. He appealed to the government for providing all types of help to these people.
Subash Gupta also demanded declaration of 5-8 Km belt of International Border as backward area for the purpose of reservation in education and employment with the norms of the State Government.
Gupta also demanded immediate construction of bunkers and toilets.
Subash was accompanied by Yugal Kishore Bali, Romesh Kundal, Parveen Bhagat, Laaju Ram, Kala Ram, Bal Krishan, Banarsi Dass, Madan Lal, Nathu Ram Ex Sarpanch, Paramjeet Singh, Bishan Dass Ex Sarpanch, Numberdar Sat Pal Sharma and Numberdar Sagar Chand.
