STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Hundreds of students on Friday intensified their agitation by holding massive protests here at the Cluster University Campus, GGM Science College Jammu against the dictatorial attitude of administration. Seeking open admission for all students in the Cluster University, the protesting students raised slogans against the Vice Chancellor of Cluster University. While speaking during the protest, the student leaders said that it is very unfortunate that instead of increasing intake capacity of colleges in Jammu, the administration of Cluster University, in connivance with the Government, is hell bent to destroy future of student community of Duggar region, as the capacity of city colleges is almost 15,000, which has been reduced to 6,800 for the session. Students, who have passed their higher secondary examinations, have every right to take admission in the colleges for further studies, they added. The leaders further emphasized that the struggle shall not end till each and every student is admitted in the college. They further said that students are not getting aspired combinations in newly opened colleges. Moreover, due to lack of proper infrastructure in newly opened colleges, students are unable to take admission, they added. “Cluster University administration is advising students to take admissions in newly opened colleges, which will run in one or two rooms like an Anganwari center. Government is making joke of students by sanctioning just Rs 3 lakh in first phase for newly opened colleges,” they asserted. The protesters demanded that the government should find out some way-out for the students, so that they may not suffer. Cluster University should enhance number of seats in its colleges or start evening colleges, as done in past, they suggested.
