Atrocities against Dalits have continued unabated. A Dalit named Jayesh Solanki was murdered by upper caste men in Gujarat’s Anand District recently. The victim and killers both were Hindus. On the other hand, some women fought and won the battle in the Supreme Court against the regressive practice of triple Talaq. These women are Muslims. And they fought against Muslims. What’s the religion of Martin Luther who fought against Christian dogmas? What was the religion of Raja Rammohan Roy who fought against such Hindu customs as Sati? What was the religion of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk who fought against Burqa and other regressive practices of Muslims? All of them belonged to the very religion they dedicated their lives to reform. We can also say that those great men as well as the anti-tirple Talaq Muslim women brigade indeed belong to the same religion of humanity, which is progressive and liberal.
We have condemned fundamentalists who have killed rationalists in Bangladesh notably Niloy Chatterjee, Washiqur Rahman Babu, Avijit Roy, Nazimuddin Samad and Rezaul Karim Siddiquee. Niloy and Karim Siddiquee belonged to the same religion of humanity as did Narendra Davolkar, Govind Pansare, Malleshappa Kalburgi and Gouri Lankesh. Whereas all their killers belonged to the religion of hatred as did Stephen Paddock, the sadist gunman of Las Vegas.
