JAMMU: Congress leader Dalip Pandita expressed serious concern over the harassment of KP migrant families at Jagti Township Nagrota and infusion of corruption in the name of verification.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Pandita said that the Jagti Township was established to provide accommodation to the KP migrants who were forced to leave their home and hearth and became migrants in their own country. But it was unfortunate that corrupt means were adopted from the day first, the allotment of quarters began, he said. At that time also many genuine KP migrant families were ignored and others who have political backing and not the real Kashmiri migrants were provided accommodation, he alleged.
“Now another process has started in the name of identification of families putting in these quarters. It is nothing but only to harass the genuine and poor KP families who earn their livelihood by working in private sector in various parts of Jammu or elsewhere outside Jammu. The agenda behind this is to out the genuine KP migrants from their quarters and to provide accommodation to some influential and disgruntled elements of the society through corrupt practices,” Pandita asserted.
Pandita urged upon the Governor administration that unnecessary harassment to the KP migrant families and the harassment in the name of so called verification should be stopped immediately and there should be no interference of vested interests who are not even the members of the KP migrants.
