Dear Editor, In old times people used to send letters from one destination to other destination through pigeons. Times changed from pigeons to Emails, Whatsapp, Facebook etc. Now, let’s talk about annual “Darbar Move” practice, started way back by Maharaja’s is still going on. Gone are the days when there were no feasible communication available in day today lives. Its 21 century and present PM and his Govt. is constantly advocating for maximum use of technology / social Media and minimum use of manpower. So taking a cue from Hon’ble PM, I request the Central Govt. headed by respected Modi and state govt. headed by worthy Lieutenant Governor to done away with the practice of annual Darbar Move permanently. The official records shall be computerized in a time bound manner for which former Governor (Mr. S P Malik) has sanctioned a handsome amount. Moreover, the huge expenditure of approx. 600 -700 crores annually and inconvenience caused to the public/ associated staff to move from Jammu to Srinagar and vice-versa shall be put away. A million dollar question also arises here’ ” Can a youngest UT afford such an un-necessary and huge expenditure annually….?” Hence, I strongly suggest to divide civil secretariat in two parts, which shall permanently work at two regions i.e. Jammu & Kashmir.
