UDHAMPUR: Spartan Cricket Club on Thursday made it a fine 142 runs after they beat Young Blood Cricket Club in the opening match of the JKCA Premier Cricket Championship for district Udhampur at Subash Stadium, here.
Batting first, Spartan Club set a total of 168 runs losing all their wickets in 26.1 overs. Gagan Sharma with (41), Sachin Kotwal (31), Pankaj Raina (23) and Suresh Jamwal (15) runs were main scorers. For Young Blood, Virender Bandral claimed three wickets and Rakesh Gupta took three.
In reply, Young Blood made a meek surrender with the side having been bowled out for 26 runs in 10.5 overs thereby losing the match by a huge margin of 142 runs. Inder Gupta was pick of the bowlers, who claimed six wickets for 15 runs in 5.3 overs. Suresh Jamwal bagged two.
For his six wickets haul, Inder Gupta was declared Man of the Match. Munish and Dikshant were Umpires in this match.
FIXTURE: Lakshya Cricket Club shall meet Ramnagar Cricket Club in the next outing.
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Pawan Kumar Gupta at Subash Stadium, here. Present among others were Sham Saroop Kalsotra, Gourav Khajuria, Subash Bharti, Ajay Sharma and Manish Thakur.
In all, 16 teams of the district are participating in this event on knock-out basis.
