BHADARWAH: Ghai Club won the opening volleyball match in the three-day Sports Festival, organised by Doda Police under Civic Action Programme at Dessa area of Doda, here on Monday.
In opening volleyball match, Ghai Club defeated Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Dessa while Dander team defeated Thane in kabaddi. The inaugural kho-kho match was won by GHSS Dessa defeating Ghai team.
Earlier the sports festival in which sports events like volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, carrom and shot put are being played was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, DySP Hqrs Doda, Iftkhar Ahmed.
Speaking on the occasion, Iftkhar Ahmed stressed on the importance of sports activities in the life of a person especially youths.
“Sports activities keep us physically and mentally fit to achieve desirous progressive goals. Besides it also keep us away from social evils like drug abuse and other,” he said.
