STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra celebrated ‘National Youth Day’ on the auspicious occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s Birth Anniversary on Saturday. On the occasion various programmes like debate competition and yoga and meditation session were organised at campus. In the early morning yoga session more than hundred students participated under the guidance of Yoga Instructor Gurmel and Coordinator of the event Dr. Anil Tewari, Head, School of Philosophy & Culture. The initiative taken to motivate students to follow the path of Swami Vivekananda by quoting several instances from his life could make a conducive environment in and around the university campus. Dr. Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, appreciated the efforts made by the faculty members as well as students and hoped that such events would be organised often. Further, Dr. Jain reiterated that the higher institutions have a greater responsibility to the society besides imparting quality education.
