SAMBA: Police foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing seven bovines and arrested two smugglers.
According to police, during the intervening night of Jan 12-13, a party from Police Post Supwal headed by In-charge Balbir Singh signaled a truck which was coming from Kathua at the Border Road near Shamshan Ghat Naka but driver of the vehicle sped away. Police chased him and intercepted the vehicle after a short distance. Police party found seven bovines in the vehicle which were rescued. Two smugglers identified as Rehmat Ali son of Hashim Din resident of Dina Nagar Chounta Distt Gurdaspur and Stephen Masih son of Ashok Masih resident of Pathyain Jutta Tehsil Mukerian Distt Hoshairpur were arrested and a case vide FIR No.8/2018 under section 188 RPC 295 A, 2/3 PCA Act, 179, 183 MV Act was registered against them.
