STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: On the occasion of Independence Day, senior journalist and social activist, R Vijay Magotra was presented national level ‘Samta award-2019’ at Mavlankar Hall, New Delhi by the former Member Parliament, Udit Raj and Kali Ram Tomar, President Bharatiya Samta Samaj (BSS). On the occasion, Udit Raj praised the working of Magotra, who works with full dedication and honesty in journalism. Magotra is also quite active in social-work and always works for welfare of poor, needy and downtrodden without caring for caste or creed, he added. Magotra has also donated his blood several times for saving precious lives. Magotra, who is also Deputy Divisional Warden, Civil Defence Jammu, has also been awarded DGCD’s Commendation Certificate and Disc in 2013 for selfless and sincere services to the society. In August 2013, he was awarded the titles ‘Paryavaran Rattan’ and ‘Samaj Rattan’ by Vishwa Mitar Parivar in New Delhi. Following the footsteps of Amar Shaheed Lala Jagat Narayan (Founder of Punjab Kesari group of Newspapers), Magotra is still rendering services towards the society as well as journalism with full zeal. Kali Ram Tomar, President BSS appreciated Magotra’s contributions for welfare and development of society. He said that his services have also been recognised by Samta Samaj, public as well as Government from time to time.
