JAMMU: Semifinal positions have been cleared in the two-day First Dev Raj Khajuria Memorial Open Volleyball Tournament for men, organised by Trikuta Volleyball Club under the aegis of Volleyball Association of J&K at MA Stadium, here on Tuesday.
Teams reaching the last four stages include Pallanwalla Club Trikuta Club, 4th RAJ RAF and TA-157.
Now, in the semifinals, scheduled for Wednesday, Pallanwalla Club shall take on Trikuta Club Jammu while 4th RAJ RAF has been pitted against T.A-157 in the morning session at 9:00 AM followed by final match at 4:30 PM.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by the President of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir, Sidharth Daluja, who was Chief Guest.
Before the start of the match, dignitaries paid tributes to Late Dev Raj Khajuria.
Prominent among others present were Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volleyball Association of J&K, Kuldip Magotra, Executive Vice President, H.S. Gill, Hony. General Secretary, V K Magotra, Treasurer, R.C Sharma, Joint Secretaries, Master Puran Singh and Sujad Hussain, Rajeev Dogra (SAI Volleyball Coach), Naresh Kumar and Suresh Singh senior players.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel including Amarjeet Singh, Amit Sharma, Rajesh Virdhi (National Referee VFI) and Shubam Sharma.
Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Jammu East Rajesh Gupta will be the Chief Guest on the closing ceremony of the tournament, the organising committee member said.
The Detailed Results: 25-Punjab beat Pinto Club Akhnoor 2-0 (25-11, 25-19); Pallanwala Club defeated Paloura Club 2-0 (25-10, 25-20); BSF trounced Pindi Club 2-0 (25-08, 25-07); 4th RAJ Raf beat Kathua Club 2-0 (25-15, 25-19); TA-157 defeated KP Club 2-0 (28-26, 25-08); Trikuta Club outplayed JAKLI 2-1 (26-24, 14-25, 15-09)
Quarterfinals: Pallan wala Club beat BSF Jammu 2-0 (25-16, 25-19); 4th RAJ RAF outplayed Ramban 2-0 (25-10, 25-08); Trikuta Club Jammu trounced R S Pura Club 2-0 (25-15, 25-23); TA-157 downed 25-Punjab 2-0 (25-19, 25-18).
