JAMMU: Semifinals position has been cleared with the entry of Furkan Wani, Manik Sharma, Rohit Chib and Stanzin Stobdan in the last four stages of the Junior Snooker event of the ongoing Jammu District Billiards and Snooker Championship at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here on Sunday.
In the quarterfinals held today, Furkan and Manik had straight frame wins while Rohit and Stanzin underwent some difficult contest. Quarterfinals: Furkan beat Dunesh Bhagat 2-0 (71-29, 60-20); Manik defeated Deepak Kumar 2-0(70-36, 72-65); Rohit blanked Arjun Singh 2-1 (40-64, 63-53, 41-31); Stanzin downed Ananya Mahajan 2-1 (59-13, 09-53, 39-24).
The Results: Pre-quarterfinals: Rohit Chib beat Aman Sharma 2-0 (44-23, 55-19); Stanzin defeated Prathmesh Sharma 2-1 (39-68, 62-33, 65-51); Arjun Singh trounced Akshit Sharma 2-0(49-32, 59-49); Ananya Mahajan downed Nipun Gupta 2-0 (36-30, 36-32); Manik outplayed Abhishek Kundan 2-0 (53-15, 52-26); Aman beat Sudanshu Gupta 2-0 (62-44, 55-15); Dunesh defeated Malkeet Singh 2-0 (50-43, 53-46); Deepak Kumar downed Sankalp Soni 2-0 (52-08, 57-38). Round 2nd: Rohit Chib blanked Akshay Verma 2-1 (48-17, 32-54, 59-16); Akshit Sharma trounced Shuwanshu Manhas 2-0(73-56, 53-48); Arjun Singh beat Zulfikar Ali Khan 2-0 (46-31, 67-19). Meanwhile, as per the organisers, tomorrow shall be the last date for the entries for Senior Snooker event, so those interested cueists have been advised to confirm their participation with Organising Secretary.
