ANANTNAG: After conducting first phase successfully, the second phase of South Kashmir Sports Festival 2017 being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police was declared open by Swayam Prakash Pani, DIG of Police, South Kashmir Range at Sports Stadium, Tikka Bagh, near here on Tuesday. DIG after taking salute on the march past of the participating sports contingents advised all sportsmen to be positive and play the games with team spirit.
During the opening ceremony, a differently-abled cricketer Aamir Rasool of Waghama Bijbehara was also present. Amir is representing Indian Para Cricket Team and has participated several times at national level.
A spectacular cultural programme was presented by the students of Police Public School, Anantnag and Hista Higher Secondary School, Anantnag which was appreciated by everyone.
The Dare Devil team of JKP also presented a stunning performance which was the star attraction of the occasion. The festival is being played in the disciplines of T20 cricket, volleyball, kho-kho, track event, Wushu, tug of war, kabaddi, football shot put, karate and javelin throw in boys and girls section.
According to organizers, top three teams/ athletes of each event will be selected for third phase of sports festival which will be played at Zonal Level.
