Sports ReporterKATHUA: Saransh Verma of Ist semester in men section and Baby Devi of third semester in women’s category emerged winners in the ‘Run for My Country’, organised by Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial (GLDM) Degree College Hiranagar in district Kathua. Second place in men’s section went to Arun Sharma, a 3rd semester student while Mohit Sharma of Ist semester finished third. Similarly, in women’s category, Sukanya, a third semester student bagged second place and Pooja of Ist semester remained third. The winner athletes were felicitated by Vice Principal of the College, Prof Daya Vilas Sharma, who was accompanied by the faculty members. Earlier, the run was flagged off by convenor of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College, Prof P. Bambroo along with Physical Director, Vikram Singh. In total, 70 athletes took part in this event which was organised to celebrate the 73rd Independence Day of the country. “The event was organised by the College to spread the message of Nation building while spreading the message of physical and mental health among the youth of Hiranagar,” Physical Director, Vikram Jamwal said.
