Dear Editor, We the people of Jammu are facing multiple problems because of the present prevailing conditions in the union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. We are not against the policies of center Government as this being a democratically elected government but the financial conditions of small businesses and MSME are not improving and rather going bad to worse. For an example, I am 67 year old businesswoman me and my husband are an issueless couple, and both used to pay an income tax separately, in the high range of first 10 lakh people paying Income Tax in India as a small business entrepreneurs before Demonetization in the country. After every year the sales and profits went on decreasing and at present we and many more in small business and MSME are living hand to mouth in this region. We have decreased the strength of workers but still no relief. We Request your honor that being no internet in UT, Airtel and other telecom companies are cheating the poor public by demanding full payment of the internet plan, which is not being serviced by the companies and in case of non- payment the connections are disconnected adding further miseries to already suffering businesses and general public. Sir, my Airtel Mob. No. 9419202939 is disconnected for outgoing calls for the last 2 months in spite of the fact that, under protest, I am paying Rs.300/-PM regularly as a basic plan without Internet services. Company wants full payments to open outgoing calls. This is being faced by all residnts of UT and majority is paying full bill payments out of fear being disconnected. Please realize the plight of the people of this Union territory of J and K. Request two, in these conditions of depression in business prevailing in the country and effecting many more times in J&K UT, Banks are refusing to help further to small Business and MSME in this region. They have rules to apply and does not listen to The Prime Minister’s and RBI promise to help further Jp small Units. The rules are “you do not have sales as per requirement in your account and you are overage, as a senior citizen above 65 years age.” Irony of the fact is Banks are charging penal interest on defaulting units, thus forcing these to turn NPA. Sir, in this country a person above 65 years age can pay high range of income tax, give fixed deposits to Banks, but Bank cannot give loan to him as he is overage. When we gave fixed deposit to Banks, the rate of interest received was 12% PA, now rt has come down to 7.5 % and from these saving deposits, we are paying high Penal Interest and Installments of our loans taken prviously from Banks. Sir, we understand Government is ready to help corporates like Airtel, Tata’s and others to bailout their fiscal crises but not the small unit holders like us. Loveleen Chadha Jammu.
