BHADARWAH: Participating students of 32 colleges from across Jammu and Kashmir and troops of Rashtriya Rifles based at Bhadarwah participated in Yoga classes during Chenab Valley Youth Festival ‘Sangam’ conducted by a special guest to tackle the challenges of stress posed by the modern day life.
Renowned Yoga instructor of international fame Phunsung Ladakhi, who is a special invitee of the ‘Chenab Valley Youth Festival Sangam 2018’ visited Bhadarwah Campus and held a yoga session with students, Jawans and officers of Rashtriya Rifles based at Bhadarwah and also addressed them ahead of the session.
More than 50 students beside Army personnel participated in the inaugural session of the yoga class which will continue for another 3 days at Bhadarwah Campus – venue of the youth festival.
“I have been around the world for a while teaching Yoga, but Bhadarwah Valley is one of the best place to teach and practice yoga. I’m grateful to Army who invited me here to join the youth festival,” said Phunsung Ladhakhi.
“While counselling and medication will always be required for some, for many mild depression and low-level anxiety are the price we pay for busy lives juggling work and family in an age of constant digital bombardment.
There is a low-cost, easy and enjoyable alternative to pills that can benefit us all mentally – a natural anti-depressant remedy that studies have shown boosts a chemical in the brain that is essential for good mental health and that’s nothing but yoga,” Phunsung added.
Participating students especially girls were keen to learn yoga and were literally seen mesmerised by ambience of Bhadarwah Campus and the yoga session to relieve stress.
” It’s really out of this world and life time experience, session of yoga leaves you feeling calm and positive, with a sense of being able to cope with whatever life has to throw at you,” said Poonam Sharma, a participating student from Kishtwar.
More than 1000 students from 32 colleges and campuses from all the three regions of the state are participating and competing in 35 activities during the 5 days Chenab Valley Youth Festival Sangam 2018 organised by Indian Army in collaboration with Bhadarwah Campus.
