Sports Reporter JAMMU: Samar Cricket Club and Laxmi Cricket Club on Saturday qualified for the quarterfinals stages of the ongoing KC Sports Club (KCSC) Cup Cricket Tournament at KC Public School Grounds, here. In the pre-quarterfinals, Samar Club defeated Secretariat XI by 35 runs. Batting first, Samar Club made 136 runs with Samar Singh playing superb innings of 47 runs and Jiyaad Magray contributing 20. For Secretariat XI, Yaqoob claimed three wickets and Kapil Deol picked two. Later, Secretariat was bowled out for 101 runs. Amir and Adil were main contributors to the total with 30 and 14 runs respectively. For Samar Club, Deepak Dogra and Tayab took two and three wickets respectively. Samar Singh of the winning side was named Man of the Match. Meanwhile, in another pre-quarterfinals game, Laxmi Club trounced Vishal Cricket Club by four wickets. After winning the toss and batting first, Vishal set a target of 117 runs for five wickets. Rajesh Gill played fine innings of 38 runs and Lakhan added 20. For bowling side, Sahil Lotra clinched three wickets and Pradeep Bali bagged one. In reply, Laxmi chased the target in 17.5 overs. Pradeep Bali and Sahil Lotra were main scorers with 38 and 28 runs respectively. For bowling side, Rahil claimed three wickets and Rakesh Koul bagged two. Sahil Lotra was declared as Man of the Match.
