State Times News REASI: A daylong conference of specially abled individuals of district Reasi was organized by the district unit of Saksham , an organisation working in the field of disability in the country. The conference was attended by 600 persons including the disabled persons, their parents or relatives and the prominent citizens of the district. The event was the first of its kind in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir which provided a common platform to the people coming from the cross section of society for the discussion on various aspects touching the disability, its challenges, solutions and support both legislative and logistics. The Deputy Commissioner Reasi was the Chief Guest of the programme and called upon the audience to be more sensitive towards issues being faced by the Divyangs and their family. She also committed to provide the benefit to all the specially abled participants under the relevant government schemes. She also urged the citizens to work against the menace of drugs in district Reasi and spread the awareness about the child helpline stood launched in the district. Swami Vishwanath North zone Parcharak Saksham also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the various issues faced by the specially abled and programme launched by the Saksham across the country. Avey Pargal national executive member Saksham threw light on the organisational aspect of the Saksham and Pawan Dev Singh President Saksham J&K spoke on the schemes relating to and after effects of Article 370 of constitution of India on specially abled persons. Those who were prominently present in the programme are Kuldeep Pandoh Zila Sanghchalak Reasi, members of the Saksahm J&K and district unit of Reasi, Doda and Jammu, district officers of Government departments, representatives of various NGOs working in the field disability, social activists of various political and non-political organisations.
