STATE TIMES NEWS NAGROTA: Sainik School Nagrota dominated the opening day of the Jammu Sahodaya Schools Athletics Meet 2018 which began with colourful ceremony at Maj Somnath Sharma PVC Stadium of Sainik School Nagrota, here on Wednesday. Sainik School Nagrota was at the top of the table with 39 points on first day. Renowned schools affiliated to CBSE from Jammu region including the host school are participating in the three-day long track and field events. Prof Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs and Dean Faculty of Business Studies, University of Jammu, who is an alumnus of the School, was the Chief Guest, who after reviewing an impressive march past by the participating schools, addressed the athletes and declared the meet open. Cadet Navneet Singh of Sainik School Nagrota won the first gold medal for the school in Triple Jump (Boys) while Cadet Sarfaraz lifted gold in 5,000 meter run. Bhanu Sharma of Banyan International School bagged double gold in Javelin and Discus Throw events. In the girls category, Sakshi Sharma of APS Damana bagged gold in Javelin while Khushi Choudhary of Bhargava Public School Samba won gold in Triple Jump.
