JAMMU: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone informed that to tap the tourism potential along Mughal Road, Rs. 5.6 crore project is under implementation in the area adding that Mughal Road Car Rally was also organised for few years to popularize the area among the tourists.
Replying to a question by Mohammad Yousuf Bhat in the Legislative Assembly, the minister said that government is committed to promote tourism in the State adding that necessary steps would be taken up to tap hidden tourism potential of virgin spots in the State including Shopian area.
The minister said Mughal Road is presently not an all weather road and it is being mostly used by the people from Poonch and Rajouri districts desiring to visit the valley in connection with trade and personal visits.
Legislators, G. M. Saroori, Shakti Parihar, Deldan Namgyal, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, R.S Pathania, Raja Manzoor Ahmed, M.Y Tarigami, Altaf Ahmed Wani and Ch. Mohammad Akram raised the supplementaries to the main question and demanded development of tourism spots in their constituencies.
