STATE TIMES NEWS NOWSHERA: Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army located at Lam organised a debate competition on theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ for the students of Govt High School Lam on Wednesday. The aim of the debate competition was to provide a platform to the students to explore their competence in extra curricular activities. The students portrayed immense enthusiasm and displayed their skills with zest and perfection. The debate competition was a potent avenue in constructive channelisation of youth energy for betterment of the National interest. During the event Army officials apprised everyone present of fact that “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” is a government social scheme launched in order to address the gender imbalance and discrimination against girl child in the Indian Society. A total of 12 students participated and 283 students witnessed the competition. First position was secured by Ramandeep Kour and Parmeet Kour and second position was secured by Tayara Kosser and Gagandeep Singh In addition all the participants were awarded with certificates as a token of appreciation. The event was another feather in fostering the bond of brotherhood between the students and the soldiers.
