STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU/LEH: Various social and political organisations paid tributes to Dr B.R Ambedkar on his 128th birth anniversary here on Sunday. In this connection, a function was organized by the National Conference SC Cell and its Co Chairperson Vijay Lochan threw light on various facets of the life and struggle of Dr B R Ambedkar. National Conference described Baba Saheb Dr B.R Ambedkar as a great visionary, saying the legendary leader worked tirelessly to foster egalitarian society and shed caste discrimination across the country. “The people will always remember the architect of the Constitution of India for giving best Constitution in the world”, State Secretary Rattan Lal Gupta said while paying tributes to Baba Saheb on his birth anniversary at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning. Paying homage to the legendary leader, Lochan said his unflinching commitment towards social justice brought about a revolutionary transformation in Indian social order and helped in carving a society based on equality, justice and opportunities for all. Former MLC and senior leader B.R Kundal said that Dr Ambedkar dedicated his entire life for the welfare of weaker sections and his contribution in that regard was exceptional. Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir highlighted the crucial contribution of Dr Ambedkar in heralding a new dawn for people of India in general and weaker and downtrodden segments of society in particular. Among those who spoke on the occasion include National Conference Women Wing Provincial President Satwant Kour Dogra and former MLA Swaran Lata, Deepender Kour Ex-MLC, Bimla Luthra Ex-MLA, Abdul Gani Teli Co Chairman OBC Cell, Anil Dhar Vice President Jammu Province, Pardeep Bali Provincial Secretary, Dilshad Malik Provincial Secretary, Subash Chander Azad, Bishan Dass Bhagat, Simran Dass, Som Raj Taroch, Rakesh Dogra, Charanjeet Bhagat, Des Raj, Raj Kumar, Nar Singh, Madan Lal and Dev Raj. The 128th birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar was celebrated with great zeal at Mahasha Sadar Sabha Headquarters. BJP State in-Charge IT and Social Department, Jaidev Rajwal took part in all the functions and paid floral tributes to B.R Ambedkar and threw light on his life journey and teachings he had imparted among countrymen. Rajwal recalled that Dr Ambedkar, a widely read scholar and exceptional legal celebrity, had made priceless role in framing of the Indian Constitution. The Batwals India, a social organisation, held a grand function at Dei Chack here today to mark the 128th birth anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. R.L Kaith said Ambedkar campaigned against the Indian caste system. Ramesh Kumar Kaith, Darshan Lal Motan, Capt Kamal Chand Motan, Sub Maj Romesh Sargotra, Sub Gunni Ram Kaith, Sub Baldev Chand Sandhu, Rashpal Sargotra and Baljit Kaith also spoke on the occasion. During the programme, the organisation members presented the ‘Medals of Honour’ to Municipal Councillor Krishan Lal Kaith, Ex Naib Sarpanch Ram Lal Lakhotra and Ramesh Lal Motan for promoting ideology of Baba Sahib Ambedkar. The Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association held a brief function to mark the 128th birth anniversary of Dr B.R Ambedkar which was headed by the Association President, R.L Kaith and attended by a large number of SC/STs. Association General Secretary Surjeet Singh Heer urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to have the much awaited ‘Reservation in Promotion Order’ issued by the General Administration Department of State Government. Among others who participated in the function included Messrs Milkhi Ram Malhotra, Bikram Magotra, Manzoor Mohd Malik, Ashok Kumar Suntal, S.K Shavotra, Thoru Ram Mangloo, Ramesh Dalotra, Anil Shavotra and Anil Kumar. On the 128th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) organised a function under the chairmanship of Charanjeet Chargotra, State Vice President BSP wherein hundreds of party workers from all over the Jammu province assembled. Speakers threw light on the achievements of Dr Ambedkar and appealed all sections of society to follow his ways. Charanjeet Chargotra termed stability and growth of democracy in India as a gift of Dr Ambedkar. Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee paid rich tributes to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 128th Birth Anniversary. While paying floral tributes to the father of Indian Constitution, Chief Spokesperson JKPCC, Ravinder Sharma described him as one of the towering personalities of modern India who will always be remembered for his outstanding contribution for the upliftment of the downtrodden people in this country. Power Grid, Regional Headquarters, Northern Region Transmission System-II, organised a blood donation camp as a mark of tributes to Dr B.R Ambedkar on his 128th birth anniversary. The camp was organised by Power Grid in association with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspecialty Hospital. Remembering Dr B.R Ambedkar, floral tributes were paid by employees and his family members to Baba Saheb. A book on Constitution of India was also distributed to all the employees of RHQ, Jammu. Mementos as a token of appreciation and gratitude were given to all the donors. Senior officials and members of Power Grid SC/ST, Backwards and Minorities Employees Welfare Association, NR-II, also participated in the camp and in floral tribute ceremony on 128th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar. Hundreds of students and the public took part in the celebration of 128th Birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar that was held on Leh Polo Ground. Renowned physician Dr Tserng Norboo, who was recently conferred with the prestigious Padmashri Award for his contribution in the field of health over the decades, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. President Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) Tsewang Thinless, President Ladakh Gonpa Association Gelong Shatup Champa and President LBA Youth Wing Konchok Ishey also spoke on the occasion. Besides leaders and representatives from political parties, religious leaders including President Anjuman Immamia Ashraf Ali Barcha, President Anjuman Mon-ul-Islam Dr Qayum and Representative Christian Association David Sonam were also present on the occasion. The annual ‘Ambedkar Award’, constituted by LBA Youth few years ago, was conferred to Dr Tondup Tsewang Chospa, a social worker and former LBA President, for his selfless contribution to Ladakhi society in different capacities through various governmental and non-governmental organisations. An impressive and colourful cultural programme on the life and contribution of Dr Ambedkar to uplift the Indian society was presented by students from different schools were presented. Earlier in the morning around 1,350 students participated in an essay writing competition in Bhoti language. Winners will be presented with cash prizes on the occasion of the Budh Purnima.
