JAMMU: The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who was scheduled to stay for a night at the State Guest House, Jammu had to shift from there allegedly due to ‘rat fear’, sources said.
According to reliable sources, Jammu and Kashmir Hospitality and Protocol Department had made arrangements for the stay of the Home Minister at the State Guest House last night but on seeing a ‘rat’ in the room, he got annoyed and decided to shift to some other place. “Unhygienic condition of the room and ‘rat’ appearance irked the Home Minister following which the police, administration and other agencies ran helter-skelter to arrange his night stay at a different place,” sources said.
They said that in the midnight, after holding threadbare discussions and meetings with delegations at the Convention Centre, Rajnath Singh left for his room for night stay but the scene inside, left him dejected.
“The concerned authorities were also grilled and had to face the wrath of the MHA officials for being ‘non-serious’ and not taking care of the cleanliness in the room,” sources asserted.
They further added that the Home Minister was later shifted to the Hari Niwas Palace where he stayed for the night.
