STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: On the twelfth day of ongoing Rangleela Natya Utsav, Robroo, New Delhi presented Waris Shah’s musical extravaganza ‘Heer Ranjha’ at Abhinav Theatre here on Tuesday. The magnanimous production was adapted, dramatized and directed by Kajal Suri, daughter of soil who presently is Programme Officer Drama Section, All India Radio New Delhi. The play exquisitely designed with musical intersperse of poetic renditions of Waris Shah was enacted by a strong team of 28 characters who portrayed different nuances of tragedy of Heer and Ranjha. The story revolves around two love birds in a folklore form in the backdrop of the state of Punjab viz Heer and Ranjha who despite many societal impediments and other difficulties keep their love upheld ethically, but not to the consent of the elderly who are against the system. Drishti Sharma as Heer and Ashutosh Shukla as Ranjha gave a scintillating performance which earned high round of applause from the jam packed theatre. Choreographed by Anju Matto, Astha Gupta and Ram Mehra , other cast and credits who gave important support to the magnum opus included Gaurav Devgun, Rajiv Maini, Watsla Arora Khera, Ashih Modi, Pankaj Kumar and Shantanu Saini, Ishan, Dhruv, Varun Harsh, Terence, Sapna, Rohit and Sunil Chauhan.
