Pakistan sponsored terrorists-Jihadis of separatists, Mujahids of India bashers and misguided youth of power hungry and so-called mainstream politicians of Kashmir- could not have thought about a better gift than that they offered them all on twelfth day of the Muslim fasting month of Ramzan-triggering an IED blast in highly volatile district of Shopian and looting the Qaimoh, Kulgam branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
One can also understand the embarrassment of the BJP top brass in the government at the Centre, especially Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who went against the tide triggered by the Army after unleashing Op All Out and announced Ramzan truce to win over the hearts and minds of the people.
The term ‘winning hearts and minds of the people’ is most abused dictum in the Kashmir Valley. For the past nearly three-decades of terrorism, efforts have only been made, though at a very high cost, but not a single heart has been won. Not to speak of gun brandishing terrorists, stones holding throwers, over ground workers of terror machine, the so-called policy planners in the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi have not been able to even win over the ‘mainstream politicians’ who have been and are ruling Jammu and Kashmir under the oath of Constitution of India. The present ruling politicians are putting both India and Pakistan on same pedestal over ceasefire violations along Line of Control and International Border from Poonch to Kathua. Tactically and strategically they don’t condemn Pakistan for unleashing mayhem in forward areas and killing civilians, even during the Ramzan. The former rulers are provoking by offering ‘alms’ to someone to strengthen the vicious campaign and perception that Indian Army was exploiting poverty of Kashmiris in the wake of a girl meeting an Army officer in a Srinagar hotel. Even before the police conclusions and Army’s Court of Inquiry, entire Indian Army stands demonised. Why couldn’t India even win over their hearts, who remain flag-bearers of the governments in rotation in Jammu and Kashmir?
Times have proven that there is nothing like Kashmir Policy Planning Cell in New Delhi. It is a misnomer; it is just a myth. The successive governments have been making experiments on Kashmir, which have thus far failed miserably. The politicians have not learnt lessons. In fact, they don’t want to even learn either. The rulers are just trying hit and run strategy. They want to pass their time. In the process, the valiant forces are becoming fodder of their misadventure. The overall morale of the dominant forces gets sapped by illogical political interventions.
Today, three personnel of 44 Rashtriya Rifles sustained injuries in the blast triggered by terrorists, who targeted a Casper vehicle in Shopian area. Ask the terror apologists in the mainstream camp or the so-called civil society brigade about the loot and blast, they will come up with a ready-made alibi that terrorists have no religion. If terrorists have no religion, then why unilateral ceasefire during the month of Ramzan.
The bank loot and the blast is an eye opener for the decision-makers in New Delhi, who have halted the momentum in finding and fixing terrorists at the behest of elements, who are perturbed over annihilation of terror monsters. Whenever the forces get upper-hand political manipulators in the Valley think about ceasefire with a sinister motivation of breaking the momentum. Everybody knows that terrorists have used such opportunities to their benefit in the past. They have seized such announcements to re-group and re-devise strategies for keeping the terror machine rolling, not only to destabilise India but to give thousand cuts to its body physique in Kashmir.
The terror acts during Ramzan are also mute reminders to those at the helm in New Delhi that nothing is going to stop them for spitting venom against India. They are not going to reciprocate the gesture, either during the Ramzan or in the conduct of Amarnath Yatra. Last evening, terrorists made their contempt for Indian offer by killing an army jawan and a civilian after attacking a military camp in the Pulwama district of south Kashmir. They will continue to strike at will, as they know that paper tigers in North Block would be obliged to tie the hands of the security and the armed forces in the mistaken belief of winning hearts and minds in the Valley. Today’s Ramzan gifts in Shopian and Kulgam villages should, therefore, be welcome in the national capital.
