PT Kunzang releasing film Pardo.
LEH: The premier show of the Ladakhi film called ‘Pardo’ began with offering of prayers ‘Rdemon Duspa’ three times by the audience in view of Dr. Sonam Dawa’s recent demise.
The film Pardo, directed and produced by Onpo Yondan with support from his wife Tsering Yangchan Onpo, was released by Vice President LBA P.T Kunzang who was the Chief Guest on Friday at Snimoling Community Hall in presence of President Ladakh Gonpa Association, Gelong Shatup Chamba as Guest of Honour and many other dignitaries and invitees including many LAHDC Councilors. Editing and Camera was by Motup Chospa while renowned singers Dorjay Stakmo and Padma Dolkar have sung the beautiful songs in the film. This is Yontan Onpo’s 6th film as he had already produced five films.
The story in the film is based on the concept of cause and effect according to Buddhist belief. Pardo as it is called in Ladakhi, or Bardo in Tibetan, laterally means the intermediate or transitional state after death or the state between death and rebirth according to Buddhist belief. The film shows how a corrupt individual has to suffer in the intermediate state after death and finally makes his landing in the land of realm of hell due to his misdeed when he was a human being.
Appreciating Onpo Yontan for his effort in making this film, LBA Vice President PT Kunzang said that Ladakhi film makers have always tried to give positive message in the society by trying to eliminate negative elements from of the society by highlighting them in the films. He said that film makers are in need of a proper theatre hall or an auditorium and he informed the LBA, along with Ladakh Media and Culture Society, had already approached LAHDC and DC Leh with the request to renovate and augment the existing auditorium so that film makers can screen their films without much of a problem.
P.T Kunzang and Gen Shatup Chamba felicitated the artists of the film with Khataks supporting crew members of the film.
