JAMMU: People blocked Marh Chowk on Thursday alleging malpractice during counting of votes for the Panchayat elections.
Led by Advocate Abhinav Sharma, former President Bar Association Jammu, the residents assembled at Marh Chowk and raised slogans in support of their demands. The protesters also burnt the tyres.
Sharma alleged irregularity in counting of votes in Karloop, Nai Basti and Dalwadey Chak, Panchayats elections and declared three candidates of the respective Panchayats as defeated by the officials on election duty.
Sharma, who was leading the protesters, alleged that the officials declared the result at the behest of Zonal Election Officer and ex MLA.
Sharma demanded re-polling of three Panchayats. He said till the order of repolling, the Election authorities should announce re-counting of votes.
